Surrey Joint Services’ Charities Service
Nearly 200 cadets, mainly from the Sea Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps, assembled at Guildford Cathedral on Sunday 19th June for a Service to give thanks for the courage and commitment of the country’s Armed Forces. The Prayers were led by members of the three cadet forces and a former Royal Marine and Falklands veteran Steve Schooling. There was an Act of Rededication led by Brigadier Paul Evans OBE DL, President Surrey Royal British Legion.
After the Service, the cadets were inspected by the Lord Lieutenant Michael More-Molyneux and the High Sheriff. Then the cadets marched round the cathedral square and were warmly clapped as they went past the Lord Lieutenant, guests and friends and family standing on the steps of the entrance to the cathedral.
This was the beginning of Armed Forces Week which sees Flags raised in many places across Surrey.
Armed Forces Day is always the last Saturday in June and will be celebrated on 25th June.
