Caroline Breckell MVO DL

Each High Sheriff is required to appoint an Under Sheriff, although it is quite common for an Under Sheriff to serve for a number of years, providing continuity between High Sheriffs. Caroline has been Under Sheriff since 2008, working with 13 High Sheriff’s to date. The role of the under Sheriff is to advise, support and act as a point of contact for the High Sheriff. In addition Caroline helps with the coordination and organisation of the Installation of the High Sheriff, the Service for the Judiciary, the High Sheriff’s Garden Party and Court Award ceremonies. Caroline has a broad and in depth knowledge of the private and public sectors and voluntary charitable organisations across Surrey. Over 28 years she has led on the civic function for Surrey County Council and been since 1991, Assistant Clerk and now Deputy Clerk to the Lieutenancy. She is a member of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service panel. She is a Board Advisor to the GASP Motor Project and a Patron of HomeStart Guildford.
