The Mayor of Guildford’s Civic Service

This traditional Annual Civic Service was held on Sunday 15th May. Det. Supt. Rob Harris led the Mayor of Guildford’s Civic Procession uphill from the fine old Guildhall to Holy Trinity Church. The Town Crier, Sword Bearer and Mace Bearers followed, ahead of the Mayor, Councillor Dennis Booth, the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Mr Michael More-Molyneux, the Deputy Mayor Councillor Masuk Miah, the High Sheriff of Surrey HH Christopher Critchlow DL, Angela Richardson MP, the Chairman of Surrey County Council Mrs Helyn Clack, the Hon. Recorder of Guildford HH Robert Fraser MCVO DL, the Honorary Remembrancer Matthew Alexander, Honorary Freeman David Watts, the Borough Commander of Surrey Fire and Rescue, the Mayors and Chairmen of the Surrey Districts, and Local Town Mayors, Hon. Aldermen and Councillors. The Service was led by Rev. Canon Robert Cotton, Rector of Holy Trinity. Jonathan Veira sang ‘The power of the cross’. The Mayor’s Chaplain, Rev. David Peters, gave the sermon. The Mayor then reaffirmed his Promises of Office. After the Service, the Mayor hosted refreshments in the Guildhall.
