Learning how Leatherhead Fire Station fights crime

Chief Fire Officer Steve Owen-Hughes and his crew gave the High Sheriff a fascinating glimpse into their lives as firefighters when she visited Leatherhead Fire Station today.

During her visit, the High Sheriff met the crew. She saw how training and a well-equipped station go hand-in-hand to fight fires, rescue people and save lives.

As a substantial part of the High Sheriff’s role focuses on crime-reduction initiatives, Dr Llewelyn was particularly interested in hearing how the station works with partners to reduce crime and suffering. She also learned that the station is a haven for anyone lost, afraid, or harassed because it’s open 24/7.
