The Installation of The High Sheriff 2022

Thursday 24th March 2022 was a beautiful Spring day and over 200 people attended Choral Evensong at Guildford Cathedral to witness the High Sheriff’s Procession and the Installation of His Honour Christopher Critchlow DL as the High Sheriff of Surrey for 2022-23. He made his Declaration, of service to the Queen’s Majesty in the Office of High Sheriff, before receiving the Badge of Office from his predecessor Dr Julie Llewelyn. His Chaplain, Reverend Canon Robert Cotton, and his Under Sheriff, Mrs Caroline Breckell MVO DL  were then duly appointed.

The Installation was organised by Reverend Canon Gilly Myers, Dr Llewelyn, and Mrs Breckell, the Under Sheriff. A retiring collection was taken in aid of the Cathedral and the High Sheriff Youth Awards charity which supports projects that help young people make Surrey safer.

After Evensong, Dr Llewelyn hosted a reception during which she, the High Sheriff and the Lord – Lieutenant Mr Michael More-Molyneux, made speeches.

The High Sheriff spoke of his intention to give support to those working to help victims of Domestic Abuse and also to those assisting people of all ages who are recovering from being seriously affected by the consequences of Covid-19.
