Lockwood Arts – A New Home for Kane FM.
I always enjoy my visits to Lockwood Arts on the Slyfield Estate with its 40,000sq ft of community space. Over the past couple of years Craig Hills and his team have undertaken a remarkable transformation job filling the space with creative arts and charitable activities. There most recent tenant is Kane FM who revealed their new studio at a launch event. Jenniann Davies, Kane Youth Projects Director and MindWaves Programme coordinator, kindly invited Suzanne and myself to attend. Kane FM undertakes fantastic outreach work in the community to help inspire young people who may be finding academic study challenging, or those that have special needs. I have previously visited their studio at Forty Degreez in Farnham where young people can learn to create music at a mixing desk and it is great to see them now at Lockwood which also has at its heart the desire to help young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
