Highest Award – ‘Chief Scout’s Gold Award’ presented to 34 Surrey Scouts!
On Saturday 6th July 2024, The High Sheriff of Surrey, Shahid Azeem DL, presented thirty four Scouts with their Chief Scout’s Gold Award in front of an invited audience of parents, friends and leaders at the Cobham Free School. The Chief Scout’s Gold Award is the highest in the Scout Section and to complete it Scouts have to gain all nine of the Challenge Awards, plus six Activity or Staged Activity badges. Of the 18,000 members of Scouting in Surrey, some 4000 are in the Scout Section which is for those aged 11/14. The recipients will have demonstrated their skills in outdoor activities, camping, adventurous pursuits, community action, teamwork and leadership. Whilst presenting the awards, the High Sheriff congratulated the recipients on their outstanding achievement and thanked the parents and leaders for their encouragement and support.
Martin Gerrard from Surrey Scouts said “We deeply valued the support and encouragement from the High Sheriff – the recipients represent the very best of Surrey Scouting and his very kind presence demonstrated the importance of the award to the recipients and their guests”.
