Cedar Court Care Home Platinum Party

The sun shone on the residents on as they sat in the garden amidst bunting and a life size figure of HM the Queen and a Coldstream guard. “Timeless”, a female duo, sang in glorious harmony songs from the days of the Queen’s youth, the war and the fifties. They had their audience singing along to some tunes and also performing arm movements in rhythm, which was fun as well as exercise. The High Sheriff shovelled earth onto a newly planted Jubilee tree and enjoyed chatting over tea with delightful ladies and gentlemen, including Lottie aged 95, and a couple who have been married for 67 years. No doubt all around the country in such locations such occasions have taken place, with those of Her Majesty’s generation reflecting on their own lives and their good fortune to have witnessed for 70 years the exemplary service to this country of their Sovereign.
The High Sheriff and his wife sincerely thank Michael Gains and Kathryn Thompson and all the staff of Cedar Court for inviting them to such a joyful event and for their kind hospitality.
