Surrey Volunteer Police Cadet Award Ceremony Celebrates Success!

The purpose of the VPC is not to recruit police officers of the future (although many cadets are always keen to pursue such a career), but to encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship amongst its members. This spirit was evident throughout today’s inspirational gathering – great drill and recognition for exceptional staff and cadet members, all in the presence of friends, families, carers and many senior officers and civic dignitaries from across the county (including the Vice-Lord Lieutenant, Bill Biddell (centre), who kindly presented the Patron’s Award to an outstanding cadet, Rosie Currie-Rogers).

It was also the opportunity to appoint the new High Sheriff’s Volunteer Police Cadet (Naeel’s year ends with mine at the Cathedral on Tuesday evening) and High Sheriff in nomination, Bridget Biddell, announced (to great approval in the auditorium) that cadet Meghna Singh from Epsom & Ewell Unit had been selected. Tuesday’s ceremony will be a memorable start to Meghna’s tenure!
