The Phoenix Project – 'Empowering Young People to Lead'

The Phoenix Project, based at Ashford Youth Club, started in 1999 to provide opportunities for young people living in Ashford and Stanwell to experience the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, and to become inspiring leaders to younger friends in their community. The High Sheriff Youth Awards provided funding to enable 15 young people to undertake this great programme under the renowned leadership of Nick Charalambous (centre);

Many of those talented young people were present to join the informal presentation of the HSYA Certificate and described the reasons behind the success of the Phoenix Project with the following three words; CONFIDENCE: INSPIRING: TRUST. Sentiments shared by my two excellent guides for the evening, Maisy (left) and Mia;

Many congratulations to Nick and his dedicated team – keep up the great work!
